Let yourself be tempted by the discovering of the amazing cathedral. This building dedicated to Notre-Dame-and-Saint-Vaast had been erected at the end of the 18th century and will surprise you by its appearance of an ancient greek temple.

Then stroll around the UNESCO listed belfry, from the top of this 15th and 16th century tower, you will feast your eyes with the whole city and its countryside around. From the Grand place to the "Place des Héros", admire the baroque style facades lining just for you.

Do not miss the Vauban citadelle, great example of military architecture, and visit the museum of FIne Arts, housed in the magnificent St Vaast abbey.

    "This was my first time ever using the TGV but I have to say it is a great way to travel in Europe. It was very easy for me to book my tickets on line and print them ahead of my travels. I thought 30 euros was a decent price from Paris to Arras. Because of the train schedules however we could not travel directly from CDG Airport to Arras but had to get the train from the Gard du Nord train station which meant a taxi ride after we got off our flight. Train was comfortable and fast and I would use it again. "

My only complaint was that we were unable to extract our e-tickets from the self-service machines at the station using a credit card "sans puce." It was a minor inconvenience that was quickly solved by talking with a "live" person. SNCF has always done a great job. "
