Don’t Miss

Strasbourg has over 350 historic monuments in just 147 hectares; making it easy to fit in as many as possible on your trip. The close proximity also assures the city’s certification as a World Heritage site. The pink sandstone façade of the cathedral is a highlight, as is the delightful La Petite France, the quaintest neighbourhood you’ll ever see.

Retail Therapy

Kill two birds with one stone and shop and people watch at Place Kleber. If the herd of people overwhelms you, head off to the Rivetoile shopping centre. Go round the corner and you’ll see the biggest cinema in Europe.

Eat and Drink

With influences from both France and Germany the gastronomic delights are plentiful. Visit a winstub for Reisling wine and Alsatian beers, then try the local eau de vie, it’ll knock your socks off. As for food try the local stew of meats, potatoes and spices known as Baeckoffe.

Hidden Gem

Visit the Stimultania, a stalwart photography gallery that also houses music concerts and festivals.

Day Trip

Baden-Baden, a German spa city at the foot of the Black Forest, is well worth a visit. It’s just half an hour away by train and has some fantastic buildings, as well as many sports including hiking and canoeing.
