Ventimiglia, typically italian

Ventimiglia is located in the northwestern part of Italy, a few kilometres away from the french border. Facing the Mediterranean sea, it is a small 26.000 inhabitants city offering sandy beaches and wonderful landscapes. Experience the Dolce Vita in Ventimiglia.

Ventimiglia can boast about having some remains of the roman period. Have a walk around the 2nd century theater, or around the rests of the roman villa and walls.

If you want to learn more about this glorious past, head "Balsi Rossi" where is the archaeological museum. Do not miss the Dell’ Asunta cathedral, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. Built during the 11th and 12th century, it replaces a carolingian former church. Another church is worth the visit, the San Michele Arcangelo’s church.

Stroll along the beach to enjoy the sun and the market (on friday), where you can find local products and counterfeits. On June, enjoy the flower battle.

Customer reviews

  • "Nice to Venice"
fabulous trip! great internet connectivity and it was easy to find our way!
  • "Recommended"
Train ride is good, and the same drawback I had on another review. I am not able to purchase from TGV directly on the main site because I do not own a credit card issued in France. Overall, is recommended and nice ride.
  • "Fear and dirt"
Railway clean, dirty train station, not on time, the train station near the airport in Nice, dirty and sell drugs there. The conductors are very kind and helped many tourists.
  • "depends on the trains."
Not in all trains there is space for laguage. Some of the trains without marked seats.
  • "Good trip"
It was a good trip. Wish there were wi-fi :(
  • "Eurail trip"
    It was a normal trip
  • "Train needs a make-over"
The train from Milano Centrale to Ventimiglia needed a make-over. The restrooms were out of order on three of the cars, and so I had to walk quite aways to use the restroom. When I did get to use the restrooms, they were terribly smelly, and no toilet paper was available. The cloth train seats were dirty and desperately need to be converted to leather or similar to keep the train feeling clean. Overall, needed some serious updates to modernize and make for a friendlier, cleaner environment.
  • "Como"
The overall experience was good, but when we arrived early at the platform our train was waiting at the end of the platform rather then arriving and then departing so everyone, including Italians had no idea that the stationary train was ours and there was no one there to help. In the end we were there early enough to get on the train and make it to Milan..
  • "NOT SO GOOD TRIP!"
1-THE TRAIN IS VERY OLD 2-THERE IS NO SIGN SHOWING WHERE AND WHEN IT GOES TO AT THE TRAIN 3-I CANT CHOOSE THE SEAT NUMBER (IN NET THEY SELECT THE CHAIR) 4-FOR 5 HOURS THERE IS NO SERVICES AT THE TRAIN 6- I CANT PRINT THE TICKET FROM NET AND I HAVE TO GO TO OFFICE TO COLLECT IT.
  • "goog"
    Good
  • "Very Good"
Train was on time and comfortable
  • "and 5 stars for service"
The personnel on the train provided excellent service. I will use this company for my train travel in the future. It's easy and convenient.
  • "An OK Trip"
From Parma to Milano is a relatively short trip but travelling with luggage can be a problem as there are no lifts to help you out getting from platform to platform. - make sure you have done your back exercises before travelling! Otherwise the train was ok - clean and on time.
  • "Feedback"

  • "italian train was late!"
