Chartres, you will be blown away
Along the Eure river, some 90 kms away from Paris, set on the Beauce plain, is the nice city of Chartres. The city is particularly famous for the "bleu de chartres", the vivid blue colour of its cathedral world-known stained glass windows.
Architecture lovers will wow visiting Chartres’ cathedral. Dating back to the 12th and 13th century, this UNESCO listed masterpiece is a real gem. T
he ancient abbey St Peter still offers its church from the 11th and 13th centuries, and it is worth the detour. But there is a lot to do in this little town so you may be spoiled for choice. What about having a walk in the old centre to admire the half-timered houses? Or why don’t you stroll on the horticulture garden to see some rare species of plants?
You can also visit museums such as the one of school or the international centre of the stained glass window.

Trains very nice - comfortable - air conditioning moderate - at times train felt too warm. My reservation did not specify Montparnasse for originating train station and had to run from Gard du Nord Station to Montparnasse to make train.

We traveled to Chartre and back to Paris. The train out was an older train and the seats were very uncomfortable, even for an hour trip. The traiin back was a newer train and the seats were very comfortable. Except for the seats on the outbound train, everything was great. We had no trouble even though we could not speak French.
